2018 Advanced Learning Retreat
La Ferme Quinn
July 28 – 31, 2018
Situated within 20 minutes of Montreal, QC, La Ferme Quinn offers an abundance of Pick Your Own fruits and vegetables inclusive of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, corn, pumpkins, squash and Christmas trees when in season. La Ferme Quinn is also host to a variety of farmyard activities including a rare breed animal barn.
Their bakery barn showcases their homemade pies, muffins, bread and cookies as well as their fresh made preserves and jams made from their own fruits and vegetables. The farm store also carries a variety of local products including meat, eggs, bread, cheese, oil, pottery, crafts, and much more.
Large groups and individual guests can take advantage of their picnic area and can utilize their snack barn that provides a variety of local and healthy meal options.
We are lucky that we will be visiting them during their Honey Harvest as we’ll get the opportunity to learn more about honeybees, their importance on the farm, and how to harvest and extract honey from the hives.
Phil and Stephanie Quinn are dedicated to responsible farming and utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which means that they do everything possible to avoid using pesticides and will use the least harmful if possible. All of their pest control is very targeted to specific pests or diseases. As ALR attendees, we’ll get a better education on this on-site, but for more information about this system, please click here.
We’ll get deep into the ideology and the everyday systems of the Quinn’s business, so this is sure to be a highly educational event for those who are new to the industry and the long time veterans as well.
